NEWS: Bad news for MUTULA KILONZO’s widow, NDUKU, as CHARITY NGILU’s NARC disowns her bid

The bid by the widow of the late Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo’s widow Nduku Kilonzo to capture her late husband’s seat in the upcoming by-elections suffered a blow today when the party she intends to run on disowned her.
Nduku on Sunday said that she will run on a NARC ticket but the party’s new leader Kiema Kilonzo today said that the party has identified a different candidate;

“We have already settled on former Kibwezi MP Philip Kaloki. The deadline for parties to identify candidates was last Wednesday and Mrs Kilonzo’s name was not among the ones I presented to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission last week,” said Kilonzo.

Kiema also added that the Jubilee coalition had decided to back only one candidate in the race;

“As far as I am concerned, Prof Kaloki is our man in the July 22 battle,” he explained.

The NARC party leader also rubbished rumours that the Jubilee coalition was divided on who to support in the by-election;

“I don’t see any discomfort among Jubilee partners because we are finished with what the IEBC had asked us to do by June 5,” he said.

This development emerged even as the Wiper Party today announced that it was considering dropping Kethi Kilonzo from the running so as not to split the family.

Nduku’s elimination from the race would therefore leave the way clear for her step daughter, Kethi.
