NEWS: CHARITY NGILU in deep trouble for supporting MUTLA’s widow, NDUKU in Makueni by- election

Tuesday June 11, 2013 - Lands Cabinet Secretary, Charity Ngilu, is currently swimming in murky waters after MPs from 11th Parliament planned to summon her over her involvement in Makueni County politics.
According to Article 260 of the constitution, all Cabinet Secretaries are barred from actively participating in politics.

Also section two of the Leadership and Integrity Act 2012 and section two of the Elections Act also bars public officers from participating in politics.

When President Uhuru nominated Ngilu as Lands Secretary on April 25, he said that she would not participate in active party politics.

However, MPs are now concerned that she might have breached that commitment by involving herself in the upcoming Makueni by-election.

Ngilu appears to be supporting late Mutula Kilonzo’s second wife Nduku Kilonzo, to contest the Makueni Senator seat under Narc and Jubilee against her step daughter Kethi Kilonzo who has been nominated by Wiper to succeed her father.

“We cannot have Cabinet Secretaries dabbling in politics because that is against the law,” Suba MP John Mbadi said.
