The National Assembly and the Senate have recently gone toe to toe over the passage of the Division of Revenue Bill which was assented to by President Uhuru Kenyatta despite the fact that the National Assembly had disregarded the Senate’s amendments.

Weighing in on the matter for the first time, Kalonzo urged the Senate and National Assembly to look at the bigger picture and work together;

“We should not allow ourselves to contemplate actions that will demoralise our progress but work together to strengthen both the Senate and the National Assembly so as to curb excesses in government and ensure accountability by both parties,” he said.

The Wiper leader made the comments after visiting Machakos County Governor, Alfred Mutua, at his office. Kalonzo said Mutua was a trendsetter who should be emulated;

“Governor Mutua is a visionary leader who has hit the ground running, capturing the Wiper Vision and adopting it to the developmental blueprint of the county,” he said.

Kalonzo also said that he would back the daughter of his late friend Mutual Kilonzo Kethi Kilonzo if she chooses to run for the Makueni Senate seat on a Wiper Democratic Party ticket.
