NEWS: ODM leaders demand apology from UHURU/ RUTO over RAILA humiliation at JKIA’s VIP lounge

Tuesday June 4, 2013 - Leaders derived from Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) are now demanding an apology from President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto for humiliating former Prime Minister Raila Odinga by denying him access to the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport's VIP lounge.
Speaking to the press on Tuesday afternoon, five ODM MPs led by Manson Nyamweya, Gladys Wanga, Mishi Juma, Silvanos Osele and Simeon Ogari said they were shocked on how the Jubilee Government can stoop to low and embarrass the former PM.

“First, they withdrew his security detail without giving him notice, leaving him vulnerable despite his service to the Nation. Then came the Mombasa airport incident where together with the Mombasa Governor, Hassan Joho, were kept waiting for over an hour before being allowed into the VIP facilities,” the MPs said.

The MPs said Mr Odinga should be respected for having fought for the country’s 2nd liberation and freedom for Kenyans.

“Many freedoms enjoyed by all today are attributed to his struggle and selflessness. Mr Odinga was a co-principal in the previous Government and therefore, we want to know if the same treatment applies to the retired President Kibaki and his wife Lucy. There should be no application of double standards,” the furious MP said.

They said Mr Odinga enjoys support of more than half of Kenyans and by humiliating him is like humiliating over 20 million Kenyans.

On Monday, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga was allegedly barred from accessing the VIP lounge at JKIA on his way to Kisumu.

Kenya Airports Authority have so far denied the reports
