NEWS: ORENGO REVEALS what MUSEVENI wants by supporting UHURU/ RUTO on their ICC cases

Monday June 3, 2013 - Siaya Senator, James Orengo, has again lashed at Uganda President, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, over his recent remarks on the International Criminal Court (ICC).
Speaking after attending a Sunday mass at St Andrews Bondo Catholic Church in Bondo, Orengo said Museveni is using the ICC issue to solicit support to become the first President of the East African Federation.

“Museveni is preparing to retire and wants to build a body of friendly regional heads of state so they can enthrone him as first President of the regional federation,” Orengo said.

“There is no way he could embrace the Rome Statute while in Kampala and then suddenly turn against it yet he is the one who even referred the Uganda rebel, Joseph Kony’s case to the same court,” Orengo added.

Orengo also said he was surprised by Museveni’s change of heart because during the ICC review conference in Uganda two years ago, the Uganda President was keen to be seen as one of the friends to the ICC and was one of the few African heads willing to host the ICC.

He said Museveni is lying to President Uhuru and his Deputy William Ruto that their cases can be referred to Kenya saying majority of Kenyans want the cases to proceed at The Hague.
